He has been here for 24 years, always as a gardener. He learned his craft when his brother-in-law invited him to come here and work. First he just cleaned up around the premises then he became a full time gardener.
What is a memory he has of working here?
He remembers Hurricane Gilbert. He lived on the premises, near the Chomak. It was such a mess. He said all his belongings were save because David had everyone pack up their stuff and it was taken in-land. Rene said it took about 3 months to restore the place and about 1 month just to clean it. He said there were coconuts everywhere, plants were destroyed and lots of animals were dead.
What does he do on his free time?
Rene spends a lot of time with his 5 children and his grandson. He loves to bring his family to the beach. He also enjoys watching TV.
