Aristeo Tun Can – Waiter
Where is he from?
A small town about an hour and a half south called X-Hazil. There are only about 150 people that live in his town. He lives with his wife Dalia and young son Alexis.
How did he come to Akumal?
One of his schoolmates from his home town use to work at HAC. He encouraged Aristeo to come about 8 years ago. His very first job was a groundskeepers. He saw the move as an economic opportunity for him and for his son's future. He talks about how this area is so beautiful with the beaches and the cenotes. He enjoys the people too, he says they are like those in his town, which he describes as very friendly, many of his co-workers share the same customs and traditions.
Something people don't know about Aristeo?
Each year there is a week long festival for the Saint of his City. It is the 2nd week of February. He enjoys dressing up for this event. He explained how everyone in the town makes food to share and specific men play drums. This is one of his favorite times of the year.
What is his favorite thing to do?
Swim, snorkel, walk and enjoy the beach; that and going home on his days off!
