Oscar never stops thinking about what to create next, and this year, he painted the façade of the Reception building and transformed it from a plain white building to a Mayan edifice!
Oscar makes a lasting impression, and this one will welcome our guests and visitors for years to come! We are so happy with the outcome and also enjoyed the whole process.
We set up lights for Oscar to work through he night. He enlisted the help of some of our staff, and every morning we would rush over to see what transformation took place during the night!
As if that was not enough, Oscar then proceeded to turn his bungalow into an art studio! His wife Joan was very understanding about the whole thing and his odd hours of creative inspiration!
Only a few of the staff got to see his work, and there were rumors that it was going to be a surprise for one person in particular.
He took the finished paintings over to the game room for display but the large piece was still not ready.
Finally Oscar called me over to see the painting he was working on because he said he needed my help. It so turns out that he needed more pictures of me because he was having trouble with the face! The secret was out, and I now knew what his major piece was going to be!
Oscar takes great interest in the Mayan civilization, the culture of Mexico, and the needs of the community. He will donate 2/3’s of the proceeds of the sale of his art work to CEA ( Akumal Ecological Association), and to Education in the pueblo.
He has many future projects and many future trips planned to Akumal; A place where he is inspired and energized.
We will welcome him always, with a tequila and an “abrazo”!
