It is a privilege for us to be able to share with you the pictures, the interviews, the videos and the faces of the great personalities that have made Akumal such a unique destination.

The vision that our father had lives on in Akumal. His greatest pleasure was seeing others fall in love with the place, and we assure you everyone that lives here has experienced this same pleasure!

It is for this reason that we all care so much for Akumal , and we seek to protect it always.

Now we are seeking to honor Akumal. From its simple beginnings when Pepe Tun and his family were the only residents, to our father’s arrival with his team of frogmen, and on to the years ahead that marked the beginning of this great tourist and residential development.

Without all of you we could not make this Anniversary Celebration happen. Thank you all for coming and showing your support for Akumal.

It is important to note that this Festival is about GOING BACK and GIVING BACK. All net proceeds will be donated to the Akumal United Fund of the Akumal Development Council. The fund helps projects in the schools, libraries, and other education centers of Akumal Pueblo.

I ask that you all join us in applauding Akumal, to mark the beginning of this great 50th Anniversary.
