Romantic Dinners on the Beach

The evening turned out to be a bit breezier than we would have liked, but we were ready to host our first ever, romantic dinner on the beach for some good friends on their honeymoon, and long time visitors to Akumal!

I knew that they would understand if things were not quite right so we set up the table under a small palapa roof, surrounded by a canopy made of netting with candle light and tiki torches to make a path from the Lolha terrace down to the beach.

The honeymoon couple came in great spirits, ready to be surprised and willing to be our guinea pigs for the evening.

The whole idea is for the couple to have their own waiter, order from the menu, or pre-select from one of our gourmet menus with specialty dishes not on our regular menu. The dinner must be booked ahead of time and a deposit is required. Any special requests for the evening to be a more memorable experience are welcome. You can add fresh flowers, book a live trio, or have a special song or songs playing in the background, or just listen to the ocean waves as they gently roll in and soothe the soul.

The evening is for you to enjoy, and be pampered, from the moment you are escorted down to the beach, until the last of the dessert is shared by you and your partner……

An evening enjoying paradise!

We arrived at the hotel Akumal Caribe and asked regarding our reservation for a private dinner. “Romantico” was all I heard but that was enough to get me excited. They led us down to the beach and as we walked they lit the tiki torches for us illuminating the sand. The trees were wrapped with white lights. It looked so pretty. The dinner table was surrounded by a straw roof and white billowing curtains. Very private. As we came towards the opening there were two vases with gorgeous roses. We went inside and on the table was another vase with a beautiful tropical bouquet.

From the moment we sat down to the time we left the service was impeccable. We had wine and appies. I had grilled lobster and my husband had the biggest prime rib he has ever seen. It literally melted in your mouth! We strolled out onto the beach just the two of us with our wine and just enjoyed the smells and the warm wind. It was so wonderful. My husband said he felt like royalty. It was such a fun and special thing to do on our honeymoon and we will never forget it. We will definitely be coming back!
