Vacation memories from our guests

This is Trish and Tam in Dallas, TX. After trying to fly to Cancun since October 29, Saturday, we finally made it to Cancun and then on to Akumal on Tuesday 11/01/05! Many buildings, trees, billboards and flowers were in bad shape from Cancun down to near Akumal. We did not go to the hotel zone in Cancun.

The airport ceilings were still leaking, but many were working hard to repair the ceiling tiles, repaint, etc. And, the air conditioning is returning to some gates. The good news for us was: due to such few arrivals we got through customs quickly .

The car rental establishments were hit hard but everyone was working very hard to clean up and paint etc. Rental cars are available, but some agencies didn't seem to have their cars "gased" up yet. Taxis, buses and vans were ready and able to get people to their destinations - mainly south.

Nearly all arrivals were property owners or others with interests in the area-- we may have been the only tourist on the flight and certainly the first back in the Hotel. The daily repairs and renewal are remarkable. From North Akumal down through Jade beach each day we experienced wonderful renewal. The Lol Ha (beach bar and grill) was up and running just fine as was the Super Chomack, the backery, CEA and Pescador's.

We snorkled every day. The visability was poorer than usual and we only saw one tortuga, but it was still wonderful. In the hotel itself, we stayed on the second floor end-room (#408) and it was just the same as always. The first floor was just about completly restored and refleshed when we left. The pool, from day one, was perfect as always. A wonderful gardener has been pains-takingly filtering the beach by hand for even the smallest stem of palm or debry. It is looking wonderful around the hotel and pool.

The ongoing repairs did not hamper our visit at all. With the exception of some of the flora, arriving guests will not notice much change in Hotel Akumal Caribe. One will notice appreciation from all the staff that you chose to return to their paradise. Service, of course, was WONDEFUL!

Our deepest thanks to the hotel & Lol Ha staff and David!

We plan to return in early 2006!

We would especially like to praise Adianna, Onis, Monica, Ladie (maid), the waite staff: Sergio; the older, handsome male waiter (wonderful man just can't remember his name): another male waiter -- well you get the picture . Oh! and please acknowledge the chef and his crew. And, I don't know the gardner's name, but what a thoughtful caretaker of the property.

As a footnote, I have never sang the praises of any place. I have spoke of the numerous places in the Caribbean that I have traveled (and most are unique and wonderful) -- but I love your piece of paradise VERY much.

I am working on a travel article about "why to travel "... and this trip taught me again that it is the people you want to know. We all love having family and travel does that for us!

Our best regards,

Trish y Tam
