My family and I had stayed at the Akumal Caribe several times in the 1990's-the last time 13 years ago. We had not returned since my older son had gone away to college, but the 4 of us had very fond memories of our vacations together-the beautiful, uncrowded beach, wonderful food, and lovely people. We often talked about returning. My husband and I finally did so a week ago and were so glad that we did. Though surprised at how much the area was built up and how many more people were on the beach, we enjoyed our stay as much as we ever did. My husband was very pleased that the reef where he went diving seemed to be in better shape and at the number of turtles in the bay. The place was as beautiful as we had remembered. We always liked the older bugalow rooms and it was like coming home again to stay in one. The food at the Lol-Ha restaurant and snack bar was as wonderful as we remembered and the staff as nice-it was nice to see faces that we remembered.. Having your tasty breakfasts included in the price was a nice addition. We've tried other resorts over the years, but never found one that we liked more. So glad that you haven't gone the buffet route!

We especially want to commend the manager of the Lol Ha restaurant for helping us out with a dining card problem. He took a lot of time to make sure that everything worked out for us and was very pleasant doing so. We had a small problem with a leaking water bottle in our room and it was fixed very quickly.

The Akumal Caribe is a special place. We were so happy that it lived up to our memories. We are looking forward to returning next year.
