We are not sure if our first visit was in 1978 or 1979. We had t rip to Cancun back when Cancun was inviting travel agents to check things out. A very good client of mine came to the office just before we were leaving and she said she had found the perfect place for me. So I made a reservation for a few nights and we drove down this narrow two lane road and pulled in under these arches. Don said" Okay where have you taken me this time?"

We checked in to unit 137,parked our car in the sand between the units. In the morning we opened the wood shutters and looked across this white sand beach to the most beautiful water we had ever seen and we were hooked.

There was no dive shop, no hotel, no pool, a very small restaurant which opened at 6:30pm and the same bar stools and all that opened at 5:30pm.

I will always remember a birthday long ago when Avelino and the wait staff came to our bungalow to sing to me after dinner..

There are so many wonderful staff members who welcome us back HOME to Akumal each visit. Alfonso,Luis,Lazaro and even a maid named Anna have been special to us. Don always gets a warm welcome from a garden Renee

We come back because it is still beautiful,the food is great and we love the people.
