Water supply:
The tap water is not potable. Please use the purified drinking water supplied in each room. (All food service facilities use purified water only).
Tips on tipping$:
Our staff strive to give you the best service and they greatly appreciate tipping, since this is a major part of their Income. The average tip at restaurants is 15% if you are happy with the service. We do not include the tip on your bill, except for groups of six or more people. Bellboys are generally tipped the equivalent of that In the USA or CANADA. For maid service, we recommend around $1.00 per day per room. When possible, please give the tip to the maid or maids directly. They really appreciate it.
Mail service is slow, It takes maybe two or three weeks for a letter or postcard to reach its final destination. No, it is not delivered by "burro" as you may think, but rather air mail out of Cancun.
Telephone
We have a new telephone system that allows you to make calls out, and to receive calls to your room. The telephone number is 984 2063500 and to dial it from the US, 011 52 984 2063500. To send a fax to the hotel: 984 2063501. You may also call the front desk from your room. Full instructions by the phone. If someone wants to call you and knows your room number, they can dial 1 and the room number to bypass the front desk.
Internet Services
We now have high speed internet in all the rooms. Please inquire at the front desk for rates and instructions. The Lolha Snack bar has wireless internet available for free if you are a customer. Ask the waiter for a pass card.

For fax receiving service use (52) (984) 875-9015. There is a charge of $1.00 U.S. for receiving and between $5.00 - $7.00 per page for sending. Please Inquire at the front desk. Our alternate fax number is in our Cancun office: (52) (998) 884-7041.
Bracelets
The use of the bracelet will easily identify you with the attendant and with our security guards who are required to monitor that only hotel guests use the pool and the palapas on our property. We want to give our guests the best possible service and stress free use of our facilities.
We strongly recommend you leave your valuables in your in room safe. Petty theft has been known to happen on the beach since it is open to the public and hard to patrol the entire area. So, watch your bags, clothes, and gear while on the beach.
Tour Desk at Front Office
Car rental, transfers, tours, golf cart rentals, bike rentals, and other travel services are provided here. ( Service is not part of the hotel)
Beach towels:
If you need a beach towel, you may go to the front desk and leave a $10.00 U.S. deposit per towel. Please don't take bath towels from your room to the beach. Violators of this rule will be placed in front of a Mexican Firing Squad. (You think we're joking?)
Beach chairs:
All the S-shaped chairs are free for hotel guests. These are located on the beach. Please show your room key to the attendant at the snack bar bathrooms. If the attendant is not there, please be patient. He is probably taking chairs to someone on the beach. If you would like to use the padded beach chairs, there is a small charge of $10.00 pesos per day. Please pay the attendant.
Security boxes:
Security boxes are available at the Front Desk. We are not responsible for valuables that are no deposited in the boxes. Please use them.
Electricity:
The electrical supply in Akumal is a serviced by the Playa del Carmen Electrical Commission. From time to time, we do experience power failures. These are unfortunately beyond our control. We do pay our electric bill on time! In the event of a power failure, please follow the procedures below.
Transportation and driving in Mexico:
Probably, the most convenient way to reach a destination is to take a taxi. Taxis are generally near the front entrance 24 hours a day. However, you may reserve a taxi one day in advance at the front desk. The taxis are unionized and have fixed rates to popular areas.
For the more adventurous, you may take the bus to wherever you're going. We have an approximate bus schedule for the buses going north to Cancun, and south to Tulum at the reception. The times are not exact, so it's best if you arrive at the stop 15-20 minutes before the actual time the bus is supposed to pass. Please remember, these times are only approximate and may change at any time. The bus stop is at the highway and is a yellow and white shelter. You may find that a bus will go zooming past you while you're waiting. Don't despair; it was probably a guided tour bus.
Private service tours:
Called TSA, they are located at the travel agency just off the road towards Half Moon Bay and Yal-Ku Lagoon Inside Akumal. They offer tours in air conditioned Suburbans, as well as airport transfers.
This service is available near Akumal. Inquire at the front desk.
